FISHER HOUSE FOUNDATION RECEIVES 14TH CONSECUTIVE 4-STAR RATING FROM CHARITY NAVIGATOR

Military non-profit receives highest rating from Charity Navigator for fiscal responsibility

Rockville, MD, Oct. 31, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Charity Navigator, the nation’s premier charity rating agency, praises Fisher House Foundation with another thumbs up after the non-profit received its 4-star rating for the 14th straight year.

The coveted rating places Fisher House among the top non-profits in the nation. “It is a privilege to serve military and veterans’ families, and we are proud to do so in a fiscally responsible manner,” said Ken Fisher, Chairman and CEO of Fisher House Foundation. “We work hard to ensure we are good stewards of the resources entrusted to us by a generous public.”

Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator writes in an open letter, “We are proud to announce Fisher House Foundation has earned our 14th consecutive 4-star rating. This is our highest possible rating and indicates that Fisher House Foundation adheres to best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way. Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that Fisher House Foundation exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in your area of work.”

Less than one percent of the charities rated by Charity Navigator have received at least 14 consecutive 4-star evaluations.

“I’ve seen a lot of charities do a lot of different things for the military, but only Fisher House has focus on the entire family as a unit,” said Staff Sergeant Dale Beatty, who lost both his legs to an IED in Afghanistan.  “Because of Fisher House, we were all able to be together throughout my healing process, and it made all the difference.”

Forbes, Business Week and Kiplinger’s Financial Magazine have celebrated the unique method Charity Navigator uses to analyze the charitable sector.

About Fisher House

Fisher House Foundation is best known for a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment.  These homes are located at major military and VA medical centers nationwide, and in Europe, close to the medical center or hospital it serves. Fisher House Foundation also operates the Hero Miles Program, using donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of injured service members as well as the Hotels for Heroes program using donated hotel points to allow family members to stay at hotels near medical centers without charge.  The Foundation also manages a grant program that supports other military charities and scholarship funds for military children, spouses and children of fallen and disabled veterans.
