BEIJING, Nov. 02, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In the evening of September 21, 2017, Beijing Design Week 2017 opened in China Millennium Monument. Vice Mayor of Beijing Wang Ning, Vice Governor of Gansu province Hao Yuan, Party Member of Ministry of Culture and Assistant Minister Yu Qun, Deputy Secretary-general of Beijing Municipal Government Yin Peiyan and leadership of the relevant departments of Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Commerce, Beijing Municipal Government and the Organizing Committee of Beijing Winter Olympic Games as well as 2017 guest of the city Berlin delegation, 2018 guest of the city Copenhagen delegation, part of national ambassadors stationed in China, famous designers at home and abroad, experts and scholars, enterprises and media representatives attended the opening. The development positioning of Beijing Design Week is an important development platform for promoting creative design and integrative development of related industry for China, is the main fulcrum for constructing cultural center, science and technology innovation center and international communication center for Beijing and is a significant support for dispersing the function of non-capital for Beijing and constructing high-grade, precise and advanced industrial structure. In recent years, Beijing Design Week has devoted itself to form an Exhibition Week interacting with the public, to form a Communicating Week interacting with profession and to form a Trading Week interacting with the industry. Meanwhile, a normalization mode that design week serves capital innovation development will be gradually formed through the experiment of cases and continuing operations of demonstration platform.
Beijing Design Week 2017, co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China and People's Government of Beijing Municipality, continued to uphold the concept of "City of Design and Wisdom”, and was held from 21th September to 7th October, with the theme of "Design+" . Beijing Design Week 2017 covered the opening, theme exhibitions, guest of the city, classic design award, Beijing design BBS, design expo, innovative design service conference, design trade fairs, design tour and fashion Beijing and nearly a thousand creative design activities were held, mainly distributed related cultural creativity sites in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region. It mainly focused on the function of design as a kind of methodology for promoting national economic transformation, inheriting and innovating the excellent traditional culture, constructing the high-grade, precise and advanced industrial structure and transforming, optimizing and upgrading the industrial structure.
The classic design award of Beijing Design Week was completed through nomination, preliminary assessment, reassessment and final assessment. 105 works selected by more than 60 evaluation experts from design agencies, institutions and professional media entered into reassessment stage for review by review committee and eventually six nominations came into being, namely, the most sensitive Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope with the largest aperture in the world and possessing proprietary intellectual property right, praised as ”Sky Eye in China”, Ningbo Museum that integrates the regional traditional architecture system and modern architecture form and technology and whose walls recycle tiles in different dynasties into new local style, Dji-innovations unmanned aerial vehicles with the world's leading control system, Mobike of the second generation that has realized intelligence sharing through service and industrial design, G20 Hangzhou Summit fusing traditional culture and spirit of the time, Operational manned submersible Jiaolong in deep sea which is first independent designed and independent integrated developed.
In the end, manned submersible Jiaolong honored as the landmark achievement for China's major equipment innovation design and that combines Chinese science and technology innovation and design integration won the classic design award of Beijing Design Award 2017. Zhou Weixin, Deputy director of China Ship Scientific Research Center, expert in director of marine hydrodynamics field and chief designer in the Jiaolong system, and Ma Ling, chief designer in the Jiaolong system, senior engineer and deputy director of underwater engineering research design department accepted the award on the platform and vice mayor Wang Ning awarded the prize-winner.
Wine party of the "Design Night" opened following the wonderful art performance when and where the attending guests and corporate representatives communicated and negotiated agreeably. Four splendid expositions of the Design Week at the millennium monument opened simultaneously:
The first exhibition is the theme exposition of Beijing Design Week “Be natural - Design Assists Human in Sustainably Developing Community”, aiming to explore the genes and force behind the development of Chinese design .i.e. Chinese culture, especially the ideology of respecting and revering nature, and ecological sustainability in order to make more contribution of wisdom from China to global governance and providing more plans from China and to promote the development of human civilization progress together with other cultures.
The second exhibition is “Handmade in Germany” brought by guest of the city of Berlin, which doesn’t emphasize the traditional German label of "benefit" and "industrial thinking", etc, but focus on the shaping of the goods, inspiration, poetry and its extraordinary creativity, because all of those just embodies the city's unique and diversified temperament. In the mean time, the exhibition also paid a close attention to the preservation of traditional craft and the persistence to high quality manufacture as well as the environmental and sustainable manufacturing philosophy apart from the exhibits.
The third exhibition is the core of the Design Week- Design EXPO. With the theme of "Home of the Future" Design EXPO showed the home of design of "wisdom, love and green" in future life to the public. When discussing the future lifestyle, the exhibition also focused on how to deal with multiple challenges faced by the current urban development and living environment and shared with the public more comfortable and safer living experience. In addition, this year's exposition specially presents the part of "Home of the Future -- Life Hui", focuses on such themes as healthy diet, intergenerational relations, creative handicrafts, and tries to show to the audience a rich, diverse and ideal "Life Collection" in the future through interactive experience show and activity.
The fourth exhibition is "Species Design Exhibition, Inside of the Design", aims to show the development history of modern industrial design and the development track of technical civilization and structure a brand-new system scene through material object, pictures, images and audio, etc. The exhibition shows the new product category innovation-driven by design and beyond users' requirements, shows the extensive imagination scene constructed by overturning innovation design, and shows the new story that sees clearly users' voice, connects new discourse system and the new consumption experience.
In two weeks, Beijing Design Week 2017 will bring rich and colorful activities for domestic and foreign designers, representatives of enterprises and design enthusiasts and the public, further enhance the competitiveness of the design industry in the capital and make new contributions to industrial transformation and upgrading of Beijing and even the whole China and to all-round development of economy and society.
