Widen Named to EContent 100 List of Top Companies in Digital Content Industry

EContent magazine highlights the “increasing importance” of  digital asset management (DAM) and artificial intelligence (AI) for 2017-18

MADISON, Wis., Nov. 02, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Widen, a provider of DAM solutions, has been named to the EContent 100. The annual list highlights the 100 companies that matter most in the digital content industry. Widen is the only pure-play DAM provider to be included in this year’s EContent 100.

EContent is a leading authority on the businesses of digital publishing, media, and marketing. Each year, the magazine’s staff and contributing editors review, evaluate, and vote on the companies making the greatest impact in the digital content industry. Unlike many industry awards, companies don't pay to be judged. The awards seek to represent the digital content industry through the companies that make it work.

In their introduction to the 2017-18 EContent 100, the editors highlighted two trends that speak to Widen’s role in the industry: “The first, is the importance of artificial intelligence (AI), which is probably obvious to anyone in the content business. The second is the increasing importance of digital asset management (DAM). Next year, DAM will need its own category. ...”

As a DAM provider, Widen helps brands get the right content to the right people at the right time. Its five applications - Assets, Insights, Portals, Templates, and Workflow - connect teams through each stage of the content lifecycle. The platform enables teams to find, share, review, publish, repurpose, analyze, and archive brand assets on any device. Widen serves more than 600 influential brands and 368,000 active users in 158 countries.

In 2017, Widen pushed the frontiers of DAM with new tools, services, and integrations. Highlights include:

  • Portals: Branded pages and microsites that enable marketers to curate and share assets with specific groups and track how the content is used.
  • Professional DAM services: Hands-on assistance with system integration, project management, and administration from veteran DAMsters.
  • AI: Widen recently integrated its DAM platform with four image recognition services that use AI to auto-tag assets with metadata.

“At Widen, innovation starts with the question, ‘How can software help people achieve their highest potential?’ We believe part of the answer is to make technology work for people, not the other way around,” said Matthew Gonnering, CEO of Widen. “When DAM powers creative expression, collaborative relationships, and data-driven strategy, marketers thrive.”
