Says Elaine Hall, Executive Director of The Miracle Project, “Kudos to the show for hiring a person with autism to portray a person with autism.”

The Miracle Project trains and brings out the potential of individuals with autism and all abilities in acting and entertainment industries, also addressing the 80% unemployment rate for individuals with autism in the workforce. Currently, only 5% of characters with disabilities in the media are portrayed by actors with disabilities.

Says Hall, “There is an enormous untapped potential of individuals with disabilities who are talented actors to play their own roles as people with disabilities. We hope that showrunners will continue to collaborate and develop this talent pool through these opportunities.”
