FireEye CEO Kevin Mandia joins Shape Security Board of Directors

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 15, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Shape Security, provider of the leading platform for online application defense, today announced the appointment of Kevin Mandia, CEO of FireEye, to its board of directors.

Mandia has spent more than 20 years in information security. He was the founder of Mandiant Corporation which was acquired by FireEye in 2013. Prior to that, he was the Director of Computer Forensics at Foundstone (McAfee), and the Director of Information Security for Sytex (Lockheed Martin). Mandia was also a United States Air Force Officer, where he was a computer security officer at the Pentagon, and a special agent in the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI).

“Kevin is one of the pioneers of the modern cybersecurity industry,” said Derek Smith, CEO of Shape Security. “His vast experience, in analyzing the world’s most sophisticated data breaches, will be extremely valuable to us as we scale our platform and roll out Blackfish in particular to change the dynamics of the cybercriminal ecosystem.”

“Compromised credentials are one of the biggest challenges in cybersecurity today,” said Mandia. “Shape is the leader in defending applications against credential stuffing and account takeover attacks. Now they are taking their strategy to the next level to help end credential stuffing entirely and this is an exciting time to be joining Shape’s board, as they are on the verge of transforming the entire industry.”

Shape protects web and mobile applications for three of the top four banks, three of the top five airlines, two of the top five government agencies, and other leading companies in retail, healthcare, insurance, and other industries. Last week, Shape built on its position as one of the largest processors of login traffic in the world by launching a new service called Blackfish to help solve the problem of credential stuffing with AI that leverages the unparalleled power of the data from this network.
