MacB Technical Expert Highlighting FPGA Design Recovery at Upcoming Conference

ROANOKE, Va., Nov. 30, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (MacB), a leading National Security company delivering advanced engineering services, cybersecurity and product solutions, announced today that Program Manager John Hallman, a technical expert with the company’s Secure Computing and Communications (SCC) team, will present his abstract entitled, “Overcoming Challenges of Functional Recovery for Obsolete Programmable Microelectronic Components” on Wednesday, December 6 at the Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS 2017) conference. Mr. Hallman will discuss Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) bitstream extraction techniques and successful design recovery for the Advanced Microcircuit Emulation (AME) program. The conference is scheduled from December 4-7 at the Tampa Convention Center in Florida.

Key themes at DMSMS 2017 will include obsolescence management best practices and lessons-learned, new and innovative management strategies, collaboration as a key to success, and training for DMSMS practitioners and managers. The conference this year will feature 130 unique exhibitors, and 600 organizations will be represented. More than 1,300 sponsors, attendees and exhibitors are expected from the Department of Defense, as well as leading organizations from both DMSMS and the Defense Manufacturing Conference (DMC) communities.

“MacB’s demonstration of extracting the bitstream from the physical device and translating the design into a hardware description language on the AME program represents a significant advancement in obsolescence solutions for programmable logic devices,” said Barry Polakowski, Senior Director of MacB’s SCC team based in Roanoke, Virginia. “As a DMEA accredited Trusted Microelectronic Supplier of Design, MacB provides this assured capability as a service for component obsolescence to our government customers.”
