The recognition event took place on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts. The event brought together the largest private companies in Arizona that together generate revenues of over $15 billion per year, employ over 40,000 employees throughout the state, and over 56,000 employees worldwide.

The ACE awards is a nomination-based program that ranks by 2016 revenue and further company information such as the number of local and companywide employees, a company profile, professional bio for the top local executive and the year that company was founded locally. Based on this information along with company interviews and further research by accounting firm CliftonLarsonAllen, the top private companies list is created. The goal of the ACE awards is to develop a sense of knowledge-sharing and community among private companies in Arizona and provide a means for executives at all levels to expand their professional networks.
