Vital Therapies Added to NASDAQ Biotechnology Index


SAN DIEGO, Dec. 11, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vital Therapies, Inc. (Nasdaq:VTL), a biotherapeutic company developing ELAD®, a cell-based therapy targeting the treatment of acute forms of liver failure, today announced that it has been selected for addition to the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index®, which will become effective prior to the open of U.S. markets Monday, December 18, 2017.

The NASDAQ Biotechnology Index (NBI) contains securities of NASDAQ-listed companies classified according to the Industry Classification Benchmark as either Biotechnology or Pharmaceuticals which also meet other eligibility criteria.  Companies in the NBI must meet eligibility requirements, including minimum market capitalization, and average daily trading volume, among other criteria.  The NASDAQ Biotechnology Index is re-ranked annually and forms the basis for a number of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) including the iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF.
