Datera Appoints Hal Woods as Chief Technology Officer

Industry Veteran Strengthens Executive Leadership Team

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 03, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Datera, Inc., a leading provider of data services platform software for traditional and cloud-native applications, announced today that Hal Woods has joined the company as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Reporting directly to Datera Founder and CEO Marc Fleischmann, Woods will work closely with Datera customers, prospects, ecosystem partners and industry influencers to identify new opportunities, use cases, and technical requirements to develop and drive the overall technology vision and roadmap for the company’s next phase of growth.

“Datera delivers significant value to customers today by enabling highly-automated data services at scale for traditional enterprise and modern cloud-native applications,” said Fleischmann. “I’m delighted to have Hal join the team, as his wealth of knowledge and experience across a wide spectrum of disciplines will be invaluable as we extend our capabilities and further penetrate the large opportunity ahead.”

Woods brings more than 20 years of experience in storage, enterprise IT and engineering. Most recently, he served as CTO and vice president of the Western Digital Data Center Business Unit, where he was charged with transforming the company from a storage device company to a systems and information management company. Woods’ previous leadership experience includes a 16-year career with Hewlett-Packard, where he held various executive and senior level technical and engineering positions including CTO, Software-Defined Storage and CTO, Storage Area Networks. He joined Hewlett-Packard in 2002 through its merger with Compaq Computer, where he served as CTO of the multibillion-dollar Compaq Enterprise Storage Group.

“As organizations increasingly choose to transition applications to containers, cloud-based deployments and IT-as-a-service delivery models, a modern data services platform like Datera that is nearly autonomic, extensible and performs well at web scale will be essential to their success,” said Hal Woods, Chief Technology Officer, Datera. “I’m excited to work with Marc and the Datera team to take our innovation to the next level and fully capitalize on this growing trend.”
