Accellion and Check Point Announce Partnership to Secure Organizations’ Most Sensitive Content

Integration Enables Check Point’s Advanced Threat Prevention Technology to Extend State-of-the-Art Defense to External File Sharing

PALO ALTO, Calif., Jan. 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Accellion, Inc. and Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. today announced a joint partnership to deliver an integrated solution that enables organizations to protect sensitive content as it enters and leaves the enterprise.

The need to extend the line of defense from protecting an organization’s network to the sensitive information its employees send and receive stems from the confluence of three trends: third party service providers and business partners are becoming more integral to every organization’s workflows; an increase in sophistication of cyber attacks and the volume of resulting data breaches, and finally; a tightening regulatory environment requiring organizations to demonstrate full visibility and control over their content’s location and access.

“Within this current threat environment, it’s imperative for organizations to have full confidence that the information coming into and going out has not been compromised in any way,” commented Nathan Shuchami, Vice President, Emerging Products at Check Point Software Technologies. “By integrating Accellion with SandBlast, Check Point’s advanced threat prevention platform, we provide our customers additional peace of mind that their largest and most sensitive files remain secure and free of any malware, even as they travel beyond enterprise borders.”

Accellion extends the security perimeter beyond an organization’s firewall to enable secure file sharing and collaboration with partners, vendors, and other service providers by aggregating sensitive content from sources and systems both on-prem and in the cloud, such as SharePoint, Office 365, Oracle and Salesforce. Critical security features including AES 256 encryption of all content in transit and at rest help protect content when it is shared externally. In addition, governance capabilities such as granular policy controls and certified FIPS 140-2 compliance enable organizations to demonstrate compliance with government regulations.

“We see our partnership with Check Point as a very important step in furthering the secure sharing of sensitive information outside of an organization’s firewall,” commented Jonathan Yaron, Chief Executive Officer at Accellion. “By integrating with SandBlast, we strengthen our security offering, which is a cornerstone of our strategy. Together, we can ensure that any information that enters or leaves the organization is protected and in turn reduces the risk of a data breach. Similar to our integrations with other enterprise security solutions such as DLP, Single Sign On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication, by partnering with a leader in advanced threat prevention technology, we continue to enable customers to fully leverage their existing investments in security infrastructure to keep their most sensitive content secure.”

By integrating Accellion with Check Point’s SandBlast advanced threat prevention technology, organizations can be assured that all information coming in and going out of the enterprise has been analyzed using the most powerful inspection techniques, significantly reducing the risk of a malware/ransomware infection. Every file that moves across Accellion’s platform will now undergo an advanced threat prevention scan before any internal or external recipient can access it.

In addition, any content that is filtered through Check Point’s advanced threat prevention technology is logged and registered and Accellion provides a detailed report that adheres to the guidelines set out by HIPAA, GDPR, FedRAMP, FIPS, SOX, and others.

“I am excited about what this partnership brings to our joint customers,” said Laureen Smith, Vice President of Worldwide Business Development with Accellion. “Check Point and Accellion share a vision of protecting a company’s most sensitive data and our unique technologies complement one another. We look forward to working with Check Point to solve a critical problem for organizations.”
