Cinedigm and Insurrection Entertainment announce a new North American distribution partnership

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cinedigm (NASDAQ:CIDM), a leading independent content distributor, announced today a North American distribution deal with Insurrection Entertainment, the newly formed production company founded by industry veterans, Richard Brandes and Chris Nassif.

As part of the multi-year pact, Insurrection will develop and produce a slate of new pictures across high-performing, commercial genres including family/holiday, action, thriller and western.  Cinedigm will oversee theatrical, home video, television and digital distribution for the pictures.  The first anticipated picture under the deal will be the family-friendly holiday comedy, RAMBO SAVES CHRISTMAS, written and to be directed by Brandes, about a stray dog-turned-hero who defends a family’s home against two bungling burglars.  Insurrection intends to start production on the picture this month in time for a holiday 2018 release by Cinedigm.

Most recently, Brandes and Nassif served as Co-Producers on JEEPERS CREEPERS 3, the successful third entry in the fan-favorite horror franchise.  As a writer, director and producer, Brandes has over twenty feature films to his credit.  He wrote, directed and produced the horror hit, PENNY DREADFUL, starring Rachel Miner and Mimi Rogers, and OUT FOR BLOOD, a SyFy Channel Premiere starring Kevin Dillon and Lance Henriksen.  With over thirty-five years in entertainment, Nassif is the former founder and CEO of CNA and Diverse Talent Group.  As a producer, Nassif’s credits include STOLEN, DESECRATED, AMERICAN FEDERALE and MONSTER MUTT.

The agreement further bolsters Cinedigm’s diverse portfolio of independent features and reflects the distributor’s willingness to develop strategic partnerships with established producers, production companies and financiers, who work in the indie space.  These pacts provide content for Cinedigm to distribute through traditional distribution channels as well as its expanding over-the-top (OTT) digital networks, including the Dove Channel, CONTV, and Docurama.

“We could not be more thrilled to work with longtime industry veterans like Richard and Chris,” said Yolanda Macias, Executive Vice-President of Acquisitions for Cinedigm.  “With their extensive relationships, experience and track record with indie films, we are confident that they will deliver exciting new pictures under our deal.”

“We have been looking for a collaborative distribution partner,” said Brandes. “Cinedigm’s team understands the marketplace very well, and we value their input to help to maximize the commercial appeal of our pictures.”

“Cinedigm boasts wide distribution reach, and leadership that is forward-looking and savvy,” said Nassif.  “As the home entertainment landscape continues to quickly evolve, we are thrilled to partner with a company with direct access to both traditional distribution channels as well as their own OTT network.”

The deal was negotiated by Cinedigm’s Melody Fowler, Vice-President of Acquisitions, and Brandes and Nassif, on behalf of Insurrection.
