CGE Energy Helps American Concrete Institute Set the Standard for Sustainability

BRIGHTON, Mich., Feb. 08, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CGE Energy, Inc. (OTCPink:CGEI) today announced the recent completion of the second phase of a comprehensive CGE Sustain project for the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the leading authority and worldwide resource on concrete. As the main code-writing body for concrete in the United States, ACI not only recognized the need for addressing sustainability in the standards it produces, but also strived to lead by example by minimizing the environmental footprint of their Farmington Hills, Michigan headquarters.

“At American Concrete Institute, we are always advancing and staying at the forefront of the industry's innovation,” said Ronald Burg, Executive Vice President of ACI, “CGE Energy offered a comprehensive approach to energy and they delivered a solution that made sense for our entire energy system, not just one-off upgrades. Compared to other ways to fund the project, their Sustain program made the process straightforward and was fiscally sound.”

ACI partnered with CGE Energy to help make these energy goals possible. After CGE Energy investigating and engineering the optimal use of energy, ACI implemented an initiative to upgrade their interior and exterior lighting to energy efficient LED lighting as well as install 90 kW of solar panels, enough to cover the entire roof of their building. Phase 3, which is scheduled for installation in the coming months, will include a 50 kW CHP (Combined Heat and Power) natural gas generator. The future implementation of CGE’s WIND-e20 wind turbine is being planned.

To implement this project, ACI utilized CGE Energy's "Sustain program", a 20-year sustainability program which did not require new capital, but reallocated ACI's previously budgeted–and underutilized–energy expenses. As a result, ACI's utility bills are reduced each month, energy savings fully pay for the program, and the excess savings go to ACI's bottom line and further empower its mission to advance the adoption of its consensus-based knowledge on concrete and its uses.

“I am pleased to announce the completion of the second phase of this project and we are on schedule for the next phase to begin, along with the timely completion of this next step forward on ACI’s path to sustainability,” commented Mr. Bryan Zaplitny, President and CEO of CGE Energy, Inc.. “When the project is complete, ACI will reduce its energy consumption by almost 15 million kWh over the next 20 years. This reduces their carbon footprint by over 24 million pounds of CO2, the equivalent of planting 13,200 acres of trees.”
