DANIELLE EVANS TO VISIT SUMMER RESIDENCY

Acclaimed Author Will Give Reading at the Mountainview Low-Residency MFA

MANCHESTER, NH, Feb. 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Danielle Evans, author of the short story collection Before You Suffocate Your Own Fool Self, which won the 2011 PEN/Robert Bingham Prize, will visit June Residency at the Mountain View Grand Hotel as our inaugural One Book author. Every student attending June Residency will read the collection and write a craft-element paper in response to it. Evans will give a talk and a reading at Residency.

Danielle Evans is a graduate of Columbia University and the University of Iowa. In 2011, she was honored by the National Book Foundation as one of its "5 Under 35" fiction writers. Her stories have appeared in The Paris Review and Best American Short Stories collections in 2008, 2010, and 2017. In 2014 she became an assistant professor in the MFA program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Her work appeals to a wide range of tastes. Her stories have vivid characters, but also complex and suspenseful plots. They’re morally ambiguous but politically engaged. In Evans, the Mountainview Low-Residency MFA program found an author who seemed likely to appeal to the great majority of students.
