5G Americas elects Chile based WOM to its Board of Governors


BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, April 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- 5G Americas, the industry trade association and voice of 5G and LTE for the Americas, announced the election of WOM to its Board of Governors. As a mobile service operator from Chile, WOM will contribute to 5G Americas’ work by providing its outlook on mobile services, infrastructure and technologies in Latin America.

WOM is a mobile operator owned by British firm Novator Partners with presence in Chile. Led by CEO Chris Bannister, it started operations in the Chilean market upon the acquisition of the local subsidiary of Nextel.

The members of 5G Americas’ Board of Governors include: América Móvil, AT&T, Cable & Wireless, Cisco, CommScope, Ericsson, Intel, Kathrein, Mavenir, Nokia, Qualcomm, Samsung, Shaw Communications, Sprint, T-Mobile U.S., Inc., Telefónica and now also WOM.
