Cradlepoint Showcases Webroot Partnership for Securing WAN Edge at RSA 2018

Cradlepoint Incorporates Webroot Secure Web Filtering and Cloud-Based Threat Intelligence in its NetCloud Unified Edge Security Capabilities for Branch, Mobile and IoT Networks

BOISE, Idaho, April 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cradlepoint, the global leader in cloud-delivered edge solutions for 4G LTE and 5G enabled networks, is showcasing its partnership with Webroot and the integration of its Secure Web Filtering and cloud-based threat intelligence into the company’s NetCloud Unified Edge Security, at RSA 2018. These capabilities will secure branch, mobile and IoT networks utilizing wired and wireless Internet broadband connections.

Cradlepoint’s CP Secure Web is powered by industry-leading Webroot BrightCloud® Threat Intelligence and allows network administrators to actively protect users from web-based threats and ensure IT compliance at the distributed WAN edge. This stretches beyond the branch to include mobile devices, interactive kiosks and mobile command, such as school buses, mass transit and public safety vehicles.

“Businesses today need to defend their networks from the increasing number and sophistication of attacks by leveraging the best threat intelligence available. If they can’t protect their network and their customers from cybercriminals, their risk goes beyond data and traffic to complete operational failure,” said Hal Lonas, CTO of Webroot. “We work closely with partners like Cradlepoint to build cloud-based protections that stops threats in real time, and ensure networks do not fall victim to online criminals, botware and malware attacks, effectively locking the perimeter from malicious intruders.”

CP Secure Web is fully integrated into the Cradlepoint NetCloud service, including NetCloud Manager, which provides network administrators a single-pane-of-glass for configuration, event logging and alerting, and policy control. The available policy templates make web security and compliance simple with predefined category profiles that include:

  • CIPA Compliance: Compliant with Children's Internet Protection Act for use in K-12 schools.
  • Offensive: For Guest Wi-Fi deployments, blocks offensive and obscene Internet sites.
  • Personal Use: Controls access to websites that are non-workplace related.
  • Security Risks: Controls access to sites known to pose security risks.
  • Heavy Bandwidth: Controls access to sites that are known to consume excessive data.

Four major WAN-related trends are driving more direct Internet access at the edge and forcing a new security paradigm. They are SD-WAN and the adoption of Internet broadband connectivity at the branch, the shift to cloud-based applications, the rise of in-vehicle and mobile networks that keep first responders, utilities crew, care-providers, and other field-force organizations always connected to essential applications and data, and the proliferation of IoT devices. Cradlepoint’s Unified Edge Security strategy addresses this new paradigm by seamlessly integrating cloud-based threat intelligence, Internet gateway and edge security functions from leading security partners into its NetCloud service and edge router solutions for branch, mobile, and IoT.

• Cradlepoint NetCloud Unified Edge Security capabilities include:

• Zone-based edge firewall

• CP Secure Web by Webroot for content filtering and malicious website detection

• CP Threat Management by Trend Micro for Application-based Intrusion Detection/Prevention System (IDS/IPS) and anomaly detection

• NetCloud Perimeter (software-defined perimeter) for IoT security

• Integrations with:

  • Zscaler Internet Security and Secure Web Gateway
  • Integration with OpenDNS Umbrella
  • Log management systems
  • Secure Information and Event Management (SIEM)

“As enterprise and government organizations connect more people, places and things, the number of direct Internet connections at the edge of the network is exploding,” said Marc Bresniker, VP of product management at Cradlepoint. “Our Unified Edge Security strategy provides these customers with the best of both worlds — leading threat intelligence and Internet security technologies from respected security partners deeply integrated into the NetCloud service to provide single-pane-of-glass management, visibility and control.”

CP Secure Web is available now as part of Cradlepoint’s NetCloud Solution Packages for branch and mobile networks. To find out more, visit https://cradlepoint.com/mobile-networks.
