AMPORTS Named North America’s Best for Logistics Quality and Leadership

Market-leading automotive terminal operator recognized at the Automotive Global Awards, and announces senior management transition

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., April 18, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Last night, AMPORTS, Inc., a premier automotive port logistics and processing company, was named North America’s best logistics quality processor for the third time at the 4th Automotive Global Awards, which recognizes outstanding performance and contributions to the industry’s supply chain, purchasing, logistics, new mobility and innovation sectors.

AMPORTS was selected as the best in North America for its logistics quality, highlighting a consistent standard of excellence throughout the automotive supply chain, as well as for its leadership and innovation within the industry, recognizing President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Taylor with the Leaders Award.

This recognition for ground-breaking achievements in the automotive services industry follows Mr. Taylor’s leadership in expanding AMPORTS’ portside capacity to support a growing customer base, strategically acquiring approximately 800 acres of land and 200,000 square feet of operating buildings.

With expanded and enhanced facilities across the United States and Mexico, AMPORTS provides customers with seamless logistical and portside services in vehicle processing, including rail loading and unloading, inspection, storage, accessory installations, and customizations, repairs and regulatory homologation services.

“As one of the largest auto processors in North America, we take pride in leading the global automotive service industry with a commitment to safety, quality, operational excellence and customer satisfaction,” said Mr. Taylor.  “These awards are a great honour for our team, and demonstrate how our values and customer partnership mindset are driving exceptional quality and innovation.”

This recognition from the Automotive Global Award follows several years of industry achievements, including Automotive Global’s Logistics Quality Award and FCA Supplier of the Year in 2016, as well as the Supply Chain Award for Logistics Quality and Honda`s Superior Quality Award in 2015.

Senior Management Transition

AMPORTS also announced a planned transition in its leadership team effective April 27, 2018.  Steve Taylor, currently President and Chief Operating Officer, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer from Jim Davis, who is retiring from the company after 20 years of service.  Mr. Davis will remain active on AMPORTS’ Board of Directors.

Mr. Taylor has 20 years of experience in the shipping and logistics industry, including 12 years at AMPORTS with roles ranging from Chief Financial Officer to Chief Operating Officer. He previously held a variety of finance and logistic related positions at marine solutions, transportation and logistics company Crowley Maritime Corporation.

“Under Jim’s  leadership, spanning from his first role as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 1998 to his time as CEO, AMPORTS has established long-term customer relationships and a record of high quality, customized services for OEMs,” said Mr. Taylor. “Our goal as a management team is to further enhance and expand on AMPORTS’ success, following the outstanding example Jim has set for excellence, quality and innovation.  I have been fortunate to work alongside Jim for many years, and look forward to his continuing contribution to AMPORTS as a member of our Board of Directors.”
