Canada’s Wonderland opens with Two New Attractions and Exciting Entertainment Lineup

New season of thrills and family fun begins Sunday, April 29


Vaughan, ON, April 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canada’s Wonderland, the nation’s premier amusement park, opens its gates this weekend for an exciting season with thrilling new ride Lumberjack, interactive family ride Flying Canoes, and an extensive entertainment lineup of live shows, food festivals, a month-long Celebration Canada event and more. 

Opening Day is Sunday, April 29 and Canada’s Wonderland is excited to introduce two new attractions:

  • Lumberjack: With feet dangling, guests will soar 360 degrees in the air on two giant swinging ‘axe’ pendulums. With inversions reaching up to 75 feet (22m) high, Lumberjack will give riders the sensation of an inverted coaster loop.
  • Flying Canoes: This interactive family ride allows guests to step into a two-person ‘magical’ canoe and control their journey of flight through the air.
  • When Splash Works opens May 26, Canada’s Wonderland will also unveil the newly transformed kids pool and splash area, Lakeside Lagoon. Children will enjoy the new kiddie pool, which will be double its original size, and can play among the new interactive spray features. 

The 2018 season also brings non-stop, exciting entertainment, live shows and a diverse lineup of events, offering something for everyone. Highlights include:

  • Celebration Canada: Kick off a month-long birthday celebration starting June 30 and featuring a spectacular fireworks display on July 1, West Coast Lumberjacks, Cirque Canadien, the Craz-E-Crew Stunt Team, live music, authentic Canadian food, street performers and more.
  • Food & Street Festivals: Treat your taste buds to a new Taste of Asia festival, along with crowd favourites Brew & BBQ, Taste of Greece, Taste of Italy and Oktoberfest. Each event features delicious, specialty foods, live music and entertainment.
  • Fun, interactive kids’ entertainment: This summer, family-favourite KidZfest is back and bigger than ever featuring street performers, the ultimate Foam Pit, special appearances by the MARVEL© Superheroes, and performances by Paw Patrol™, Shimmer and Shine™, DooDoo the International Clown and more.
  • Awe-inspiring, internationally-renowned acts: Get ready to be amazed by Woofjocks, the Ultimate Thrills Circus, Chinese Acrobats and the Chicago Boyz Acrobatic Team.
