All West Communications Redefines the Subscriber Experience at Home and at Play with Managed Wi-Fi Services Enabled by Calix Cloud

New managed Wi-Fi service enhances the subscriber experience across their mountainous region while increasing revenue and reducing support costs

PETALUMA, Calif., May 23, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Calix, Inc. (NYSE:CALX) today announced All West Communications (All West), a leading local exchange carrier (LEC), is taking control of the subscriber experience through the powerful combination of Calix Cloud and Mesh-Enhanced Carrier Class Wi-Fi. Serving subscribers in Northeast Utah and Southwest Wyoming, including destination resort communities such as Park City and Deer Valley, All West’s subscriber expectations for world-class connectivity are literally sky-high. Initially, All West offered its subscribers inexpensive, consumer-grade Wi-Fi solutions. However, they proved to be lacking in performance and challenging for their customer support teams to manage. Today, All West offers a fully managed, carrier-class Wi-Fi service solution from Calix. Subscribers receive unmatched Wi-Fi speeds, while All West can remotely update and troubleshoot home networks through Calix Cloud.

To date, All West has seen phenomenal results:

Managed Wi-Fi penetration:

  • 25% across their existing subscribers
  • 50% of new Internet customers

Operational efficiencies:

  • 40% of trouble calls are being resolved with the first contact
  • 30% less likely to roll a truck to solve issues if GigaCenters are in the home

“Since launching a Managed Wi-Fi offering with the Calix GigaCenters, we have seen a tremendous response from our subscribers, who rely on Wi-Fi as their connection method of choice within their homes and resort communities,” said Bridget Watkins, vice president of marketing and sales at All West Communications. “With the success we have enjoyed partnering with Calix, we are also starting to use Calix Marketing Cloud to optimize our promotional campaign segmentation to reach only the subscribers who are best suited for the service, this will help lower our acquisition costs for new customers to the service and improve ROI. As new Managed Wi-Fi subscribers come on board, we will leverage Calix Support Cloud to further enhance their experience through proactive network and device management.”

Founded in 1912, All West is a long-standing pillar of the community with a pioneering spirit, sponsoring local sports teams and events, county fairs and rodeos. All West started as a “seed,” representing the possibility for a better future that grew into the actuality of expanded connectivity to the world, reaching more than 16,000 subscribers today. All West has successfully rolled out Managed Wi-Fi services with an ambitious desire to deliver exceptional Wi-Fi experiences to the demanding communities that they serve. This formula of installing carrier class GigaCenters in every home – tapping into the intelligence of Calix Cloud to preempt subscriber issues, troubleshoot remotely, and reduce truck rolls – is allowing All West to increase their revenues while simultaneously reducing support costs. Next up are plans to add a whole-home service powered by the Calix Mesh Wi-Fi solution to optimize coverage everywhere – on the deck, in the basement, or across the backyard – and create a new up-sell opportunity for All West.

“All West subscribers clearly see how a well-managed Wi-Fi service can meet all of their connectivity needs, but it also meets the needs of All West,” said Skip Hirvela, vice president of sales at Calix. “The impressive results for All West speak for themselves as Calix-enabled Managed Wi-Fi is increasing revenues while reducing call times, truck rolls, and overall support costs. Innovators like All West see that Managed Wi-Fi and proactive subscriber support are the springboards to owning the smart home and business of tomorrow. We are proud to partner with innovators like All West.”
