OVERLAND PARK, Kan., June 04, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Spurred by rising oil prices, new oil, gas and chemical plant developments in the Gulf Coast region are driving investments in power generation and transmission and distribution (T&D) to supply new or increased loads. To meet the demand, Black & Veatch, a market leader in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services, today announced it is opening a new power delivery office in Dallas, Texas.
Professionals located in the company’s Texas offices are developing and implementing high-profile projects across the state and region. In addition to the new Dallas location, Black & Veatch also maintains offices in College Station and Houston. Expanding Black & Veatch’s staff of power delivery experts will allow the company to provide increased client support to Texas utilities, municipalities and other clients.

Even as oil prices rise, growing demand for renewable energy is fueling significant investment in T&D in Texas and across the nation. According to Black & Veatch’s most recent Strategic Directions: Electric Industry Report survey, nearly half of U.S. utilities plan to add a substantial amount of renewable energy generation to their systems in the next five years.
Texas – the nation’s leader in wind energy production – continues to invest heavily in renewables, creating new build-out opportunities. Black & Veatch provided design and construction inspection services on a portion of the state’s Competitive Renewable Energy Zone, or CREZ program, a years-long, $7 billion electrical transmission project to deliver enormous amounts of renewable energy to the grid. Completed in 2014, the build-out stretches nearly 3,600 miles to deliver 18,500 megawatts of wind power to load centers in Texas.
The new Dallas office is part of Black & Veatch’s ongoing commitment to reinforcing and expanding its power business, which provides comprehensive planning through construction and commissioning services of electric transmission and distribution, across the U.S. The company is expanding its EPC services by adding staff to 14 regional offices, as highlighted by recent expansions in Boston and Chicago and a new office opening in Delaware.
