TriCore Reference Laboratories Readies for the Future with New 21st Century IT Architecture

Albuquerque, New Mexico, June 07, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- June 6, 2018 – TriCore Reference Laboratories announces the successful implementation of its new information technology infrastructure, optimizing the company’s lab operations and clinical diagnostics.  This complex installation was planned over many months and involved over a thousand professionals at TriCore and its hospital and provider partners across the state of New Mexico.

The new innovative technology model will enhance TriCore’s ability to provide cost-effective laboratory and clinical informatics services to its patient and provider communities.  “This technology installation was a necessary step to support TriCore’s continued position as an innovation leader in the clinical laboratory industry, both in our current business and for future growth.  The flexibility and ease of connectivity offered by this model will be key. ” says Dr. Michael Crossey, TriCore’s CEO.

As a result of this technology implementation, TriCore is able to:

  • Reduce the scope, cost and complexity of legacy LIS systems.
  • Leverage improved and lower cost laboratory instrument management systems.
  • Better connect actionable laboratory information to health systems, providers, patients, and insurance companies.
  • Enhance the patient contact, specimen routing and tracking processes in order to reduce patient wait times and improve specimen management efficiency.
  • Leverage a new enterprise wide exception management system to better document and follow up on process exceptions.
  • Provide enhanced clinical diagnostics to providers, further positioning the lab as an indispensable member of the larger healthcare team.

“This new architecture reflects our long-term commitment to improve and advance the practice of efficient and effective laboratory medicine in our community,” says Steve Ayer, TriCore’s Chief Information Officer.

The success of this new technology model demonstrates the continued strength of TriCore’s partnership with Rhodes Group, an advanced laboratory software solutions provider.  Rhodes designed this new technology model, coined C21, as its core solutions architecture.
