Women in Privacy: VPN.com & NordVPN Sponsor 74th Miss Georgia Pageant

COLUMBUS, Ga. and ATLANTA and ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., June 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VPN.com and NordVPN have teamed up to sponsor the 99 young women who will take the stage at the 2018 Miss America qualifier to raise awareness for women in STEM, cybersecurity and privacy. The 74th Annual Miss Georgia Pageant will commence at the River Center for Performing Arts in Columbus, Georgia from June 12th through the 16th. The newly crowned Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen will represent 10.4 million Georgia residents at the Miss America Pageant to be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on September 9th.

The fierce competition is scored on five main components by five judges who are sequestered throughout the week for the integrity and privacy of their results.

“The #DeleteFacebook and #MeToo movements have made 2018 a pivotal year for privacy and women in the workplace,” commented Michael Gargiulo, CEO of VPN.com. “This year’s Miss Georgia will represent these values and progress in our society. To make it this far is difficult, costly, and requires a huge amount of self esteem. These are tomorrow’s leaders, and to be able to sponsor them with NordVPN, one of the largest, most respected VPN companies in the world is a great honor.”

The Miss America Organization depends on gracious volunteers, leaders and sponsors across the country to bring these pageants together. In addition, they depend on private and secure internet access to audit scores, communicate internally and, most importantly, to report the winner. The privacy of this information is critical until the Chairman of the Miss Georgia Pageant Corporation, Mansfield Bias, takes the stage on June 16th to announce the State of Georgia’s new Queen.

“We deeply believe in the values the Miss America Organization and Miss Georgia Pageant stand for,” Gargiulo explains. “I have had the privilege to watch my sister, Stephanie Gargiulo, transform into a beautiful young woman because of the opportunities this organization has provided her and thousands of others along the way. This year, that journey continues and we are very excited to contribute in this way,” Gargiulo adds.

This year’s pageant comes one week after Gretchen Carlson, CEO of the Miss America Organization, announced they will be eliminating the swimsuit component of the pageant in 2019.
