Cognoa fills a void in behavioral healthcare and support for parents during early childhood years. When developmental delays are detected within the critical early intervention window between infancy and five years of age, treatments have the greatest potential for improved, lifelong outcomes. However, despite recommendations from the American Pediatrics Association to regularly screen all children for delays starting at nine months of age, less than half of all children under the age of three are screened by their pediatrician. With the Cognoa app, parents can screen for delays in speech, language, behavior and cognitive abilities, as well as identify early signs of more significant delay including autism and ADHD - in children as early as 18 months old. Parents can then share this information with their pediatricians to expedite an earlier diagnosis and treatment, if necessary.
