The Battery Show Announces Dr. Donald R. Sadoway and Chelsea Sexton as Its 2018 Keynote Speakers

Sadoway’s Liquid Battery Research and Sexton’s Electric Vehicle Expertise to Headline the Event

Sadoway and Chelsea Sexton, Electric Vehicle Advocate and Advisor, will keynote this year’s event. Sadoway will discuss his groundbreaking work on the liquid metal battery, while Sexton will focus on the most overlooked factors for EV success. About Dr. Donald R. Sadoway:

Sadoway is known for his groundbreaking work at MIT, serving as John F. Elliott Professor of Materials Chemistry in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, where he discovered both the liquid metal battery and molten oxide electrolysis. Sadoway is also a co-founder of Ambri Inc. (formerly Liquid Metal Battery Corporation), which is commercializing the liquid metal battery technology for grid-scale energy storage. In addition to his work with Ambri, he is a co-founder of Boston Metal (formerly Boston Electrometallurgical Corp.), which is commercializing molten oxide electrolysis for the production of metals.

Sadoway’s presentation, Pivotal Innovation in Energy Storage, focuses on the work done in his MIT lab on the liquid metal battery. The keynote presentation will take place Tuesday, September 11 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM.

Electric Vehicle Advocate and Advisor, Chelsea Sexton has amassed unparalleled expertise in advanced transportation and related technology deployment, including product development, go-to-market strategy, public policy, infrastructure, marketing, and much more. As a Senior Advisor to VantagePoint Capital Partners’ cleantech practice, she helped guide the firm’s transportation-related investment priorities, most notably an early stake in Tesla Motors. Sexton is also a co-founder of Plug In America, the largest consumer-oriented electric drive advocacy group in the US, and remained its Executive Director for several years.

Sexton’s presentation, Driving Toward the Tipping Point in EV Adoption, takes a deep dive into  the most overlooked factors for EV success, including market, policy, infrastructure issues, and the role of co-enabling technologies.
