Hill International to Provide Project Management Services for the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s “Health Initiative” in Greece

PHILADELPHIA and ATHENS, Greece, June 28, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hill International (NYSE:HIL), the global leader in managing construction risk, announced it has been selected by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) to provide Program and Project Management Services for the SNF’s “Health Initiative’ grant program in Greece.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF, www.SNF.org), one of the world’s leading private philanthropic organizations, recently announced its intention to support the Greek Health sector with a series of grants totaling at least USD$238 million. On March 21, 2018, the SNF and the Greek State signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the grant initiative, marking the first step in establishing this philanthropic partnership.

The Program includes the design, construction, and outfitting of a new building for the General Hospital of Komotini, a Children’s Hospital in Thessaloniki, and a building to be erected in the current location of the Sisters’ House and Nursing Sisters’ buildings in the premises of the General Hospital “Evangelismos”, in Athens, in order for it to serve as the Chair of the University’s Faculty of Nursing.

The SNF’s Health Initiative grant  also includes the procurement of new equipment, as well as the maintenance of existing equipment, with the aim of strengthening the capability and efficiency of the National Center for Emergency Care’s (EKAV) air ambulance services, the procurement and installation of special medical equipment such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and radiopharmaceutical production units in selected public medical institutions across the country, as well as the formulation and implementation of educational programs regarding hospital infections and the treatment of trauma.

SNF’s distinguished project team includes internationally acclaimed architect Renzo Piano (RPBW) working in collaboration with the highly regarded Greek architectural firm Betaplan and specialist healthcare design consultant Llewelyn Davies. Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine International is collaborating with the SNF in an advisory capacity.

Hill International will be providing project management for the three construction projects that are part of the Program from the preliminary phase through to hand over to the Greek State and the defects liability period.

“This Program provides much-needed investments in the local communities and will greatly benefit Greece’s healthcare sector as a whole” said Manolis Sigalas, Hill’s VP and Managing Director, Southern Europe. “We share SNF’s vision and objectives. We are delighted and honored to support SNF in delivering this program of national significance.”
