Lakeshore Recycling Systems Continues West Suburban Chicago Expansion, Inking Municipal Contracts with St. Charles, Geneva

Company now serves nearly a quarter million households in greater Chicago and northern Illinois.

CHICAGO, July 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), the Midwest’s leading independent recycling and waste diversion provider, today announced it has been awarded two new municipal contract awards with the cities of St. Charles and Geneva. Services for four-year residential contracts in both cities began July 1.

St. Charles and Geneva represent LRS’ 21st and 22nd exclusive municipal contract awards, and the fourth municipal contract award in 2018, following the Village of Lisle and the Village of Hinckley. LRS is today the exclusive hauler for nearly 220,000 households in greater Chicago and northern Illinois.

“The City of St. Charles recognized how much LRS has done for the other municipalities and we believe our residents would benefit considerably. Sustainability is of great importance to residents and businesses in St. Charles, and to know LRS does not own a landfill and diverts as much waste as possible from landfills was a big part of our decision to switch,” said Tim Wilson, Public Works Manager, Environmental Services. “We are happy to be a part of LRS’ growth and one of their newest municipalities.”

“The City of Geneva is excited to partner with Lakeshore Recycling Systems based on their work with other municipalities, and we are happy to be one of LRS’ newest municipal partners,” said Rich Babica, Public Works Director. "The incredible value offered to our residents, combined with additional program service enhancements and sustainability efforts were the driving factors to make the switch to LRS.”

“We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to the City and residents of St. Charles and Geneva on behalf of all LRS employees and look forward to serving both Cities as a trusted partner,” said LRS Chief Executive Officer Alan T. Handley. “In just over 60 months, we have achieved remarkable growth based on best in class safety, relentless innovation, investments in new sustainability-based technologies, unparalleled employee dedication and by building trust and goodwill among the residents, businesses and neighborhoods we serve.”

The company recently announced the acquisition of West Chicago-based DuPage Disposal, adding 5,000 households throughout DuPage, Kane and Cook. And in June, LRS was awarded the Solid Waste Association of North America’s 2018 Overall Safety Award, recognizing the company for its commitment to ongoing safety awareness initiatives; and the only waste hauler recognized in the safety category.
