Diamanti and NGINX Team Up to Deliver Advanced Load Balancing Across Kubernetes-Optimized Container Infrastructure

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Diamanti, creators of the first bare-metal platform purpose-built for containerized applications, today announced that the NGINX Ingress Controller for Kubernetes is now certified for Diamanti, and that Diamanti has joined the NGINX Technology Partner Program.

NGINX is a popular option for Kubernetes load balancing and management of HTTP traffic across microservices applications in containers. Through the partnership, Diamanti customers can now easily upgrade to the NGINX Ingress Controller, and have access to advanced features for scaling microservices-based production environments.

Diamanti’s bare-metal container platform gives infrastructure architects, IT operations, and application owners the speed, simplicity, efficiency, and control they need to run stateful containerized applications in production. The NGINX Ingress Controller joins the growing library of solutions that have been technically validated for Diamanti’s Kubernetes-optimized platform -- allowing customers to easily deploy NGINX Plus and take advantage of its unique capabilities for coordinating application traffic on Kubernetes, while eliminating the need for costly hardware-based load balancers. Running NGINX Plus on Diamanti gives enterprises the first commercially available platform that addresses the end-to-end requirements of running Kubernetes -- from the physical infrastructure networking, storage and compute layer, up through the data plane and control plane.

“NGINX and Diamanti deliver a valuable combination of capabilities for operating containers at scale in production,” said Jeff Chou, CEO and co-founder at Diamanti. “Diamanti provides a bare-metal container platform with compute, plug-and-play networking, persistent storage, Docker, and Kubernetes integrated into one simple solution. And NGINX Plus is a scalable data and control plane for load balancing, service mesh capabilities, and many other services for high availability.”

Diamanti's open source contributions to Kubernetes include key enhancements that opened the door to flexible, predictable container networking and storage. Diamanti's FlexVolume contribution automated Kubernetes IO configuration based on user-defined requirements. Diamanti's scheduler contribution enabled the Kubernetes scheduler to factor storage and networking requirements when placing workloads, leveraging a declarative model for developers and container administrators.

NGINX is the leading native Ingress controller for Kubernetes, managing external access to a host of services that are critical for containerized applications composed as microservices. The latest version of the NGINX Ingress Controller includes support for viewing NGINX Plus advanced metrics in Prometheus, extended Helm charts, NGINX Plus health checks, and greater support for multi-tenant services. As part of the collaboration, Diamanti and NGINX will work together to improve the performance and future capabilities of NGINX on Diamanti hardware in areas such as clustering, high availability and service mesh.

“We’re pleased to be working with Diamanti to help deliver production-grade, high-performance container-based applications and infrastructure”, said Paul Oh, Head of Business Development NGINX, Inc. “NGINX is among the most widely deployed solutions for Kubernetes and our partnership with Diamanti will accelerate the time in which our customers see a return on their application modernization initiatives.”
