Thomas Pecora Joins WanderSafe as Senior Security Advisor

Former CIA Executive to Help Power International Safety Travel App, Device

Miami, Florida, Aug. 08, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- WanderSafe, the International travel safety-focused, smartphone app and handheld device company, announced today that Thomas Pecora has been named the company’s Senior Security Advisor. Pecora joins the WanderSafe executive team in advance of the company’s official launch to build and strengthen the safety content that will proliferate through the smartphone application. Pecora previously spent more than two decades with the CIA, where he led on the front lines, supporting the CIA’s efforts against international terrorism.

At WanderSafe, Pecora will serve in a new role that is key to supporting multiple functional areas related to personal safety and security. As Senior Security Advisor, Pecora will provide safety and security guidance as well as represent the company to media sources as the resident expert on personal security. His efforts will play a significant role in teaching WanderSafe’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) virtual safety concierge JENI the best practices for safety.

“Tom Pecora provides a wealth of knowledge for keeping our users safe and secure, whether they’re traveling alone overseas, or simply walking through their own college campus,” said Stephenie Rodriguez, creator of the WanderSafe personal safety device and Founder of JOZU for WOMEN Inc. “With his deep security knowledge, his unique background fighting terror, and his passion for keeping individual civilians safe, Thomas is the ideal master teacher for JENI’s machine learning attributes. With his oversight we’re confident that WanderSafe users will be able to make better informed decisions about where they go and the personal alarm safety device will help protect them if they find themselves victims of a potential assault.”

Pecora spent 24 years with the CIA, where he specialized in protective operations, counter-terrorism and security, deploying to every major conflict area that the US was involved in since 1993. He trained personnel bound for war zones, and worked against some of the most infamous terrorist groups including Al Qaeda, Abu Nidal, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Jemaah Islamiyah. Pecora’s historical memoir “Guardian: Life in the Crosshairs of the CIA’s War on Terror,” will be released in early 2019.

“Throughout my entire CIA career, my focus was the safety of our employees. WanderSafe’s mission to provide users with real-time safety updates, and useful and clear travel tips aligns perfectly with my personal mission to continue keeping people safe,” said Thomas Pecora.
