Apprio Appoints Nicholas Tomlin as Vice President of Information Security

Security Expert to Direct Company’s Enterprise and Government Information Security Programs

WASHINGTON, Aug. 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Apprio, a leading provider of specialized technology solutions, particularly for the health, defense and homeland security markets, today announced the appointment of Nicholas Tomlin as vice president of information security. Tomlin brings more than 20 years of technology industry experience to Apprio as an information security expert.

Tomlin’s responsibilities with Apprio are two-pronged: first, he will lead Apprio’s enterprise information assurance; and second, he will oversee regulatory compliance, information assurance, security risk assessment, IT security tools and support, cybersecurity engineering and architecture design, cybersecurity operations management, continuous monitoring, policy, operational procedure development and program management in support of government agencies.

Prior to joining Apprio, Tomlin supported more than $1 billion in contracts with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as senior manager at General Dynamics Information Technology. In this role, he was responsible for security oversight implementation across multiple contracts, including those with AWS cloud computing platforms, and the implementation of a comprehensive continuous monitoring and vulnerability remediation program.

“Nick understands the complications of safeguarding and maintaining privacy and security of agencies’ information assets and critical infrastructure. He brings an in-depth insight into agencies’ security requirements to Apprio that will significantly benefit our customers,” said Darryl Britt, Apprio president. “Nick will leverage his experience, such as the implementation of a comprehensive information security continuous monitoring (ICSM) program for multiple CMS programs, to add real value for our customers.”

Tomlin is a certified project management professional (PMP) and has a certificate in leadership for technology organizations from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. He has lectured internationally for Jane's Defence and Jane's Information Group.

“Having started my career as a law enforcement professional, security and protection have always been in the forefront of my experience,” Tomlin said. “Along these lines, I look forward to implementing best practices to safeguard important federal agency programs and bolster Apprio’s security posture for critical information assets.”

Tomlin earned a master’s degree in criminal justice with a concentration in forensic psychology from St. Leo University, St. Leo, FL, and a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. He is pursuing a doctorate in organizational leadership with a concentration in change leadership from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix.
