Hitachi Signs OEM License Agreement With Levyx to Address Big Data Applications in Japan

Major Internet-of-Things (IOT) Opportunities Targeted First

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Levyx Inc., a provider of system software for low latency big data platforms and applications to dramatically reduce Big Data infrastructure costs, announced today the signing of a license agreement with Hitachi Information & Telecommunication Engineering, Ltd. (Hitachi Engineering), a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., focused on the development, design, manufacturing, sale and servicing of products related to Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) systems such as servers, storage and networks. The parties will pair Hitachi Engineering hardware and Levyx software to deliver combined solutions to resolve challenges related to performance and latency in processing large-scale data sets, including flow-based object tracking solutions geared at IOT use cases that measure and visualize the flow line objects in real time by sensor systems.

As a partner to Hitachi, Levyx provides unique capabilities to be able to solve some fundamental data management issues facing large enterprises that manage large and growing workloads. There is a great demand in data centers in the Asia-Pacific region for low-latency and high performance system-level software that optimizes hardware performance and lowers costs. Just as Japan has been at the forefront of adopting Big Data applications, Hitachi is a pioneer in adopting Levyx’s cutting-edge technologies that solve some of the major Big Data processing issues.

Dr. Herbert Perer, Director of International Business Development of Levyx, said: “We are pleased to partner with Hitachi and look forward to working with them on solving Big Data challenges in large market opportunities in areas such as IOT, Cyber Security, Genomics and Financials.”

Dr. Reza Sadri, CEO of  Levyx, said: “Our Tokyo based team is working closely with Hitachi to develop high-end data solutions. We are committed to providing world-class service and support to our enterprise customers. The Hitachi brand and horsepower combined with our intense domain expertise and differentiating technologies create a formidable solution.”

Hitachi Engineering is based in Yokohama, Japan. While its main business is to design, develop, and manufacture servers, communications network equipment, and storage products, the company also delivers services to solve major enterprise issues. Recently Hitachi Engineering has been focused on Big Data digital solutions in the IOT and Artificial Intelligence space.

Levyx is based in Irvine, California and is in the process of opening an office in Tokyo to support local customers with sales and solutions engineering expertise. Levyx’s products include Helium™, Xenon™, and Radon™. Helium is one of the world’s fastest key value store technologies that serves as the core engine of its low-latency data processing solutions; while Xenon is a low latency, scalable data analytics solution designed to manage the retrieving, processing, and indexing of very large datasets, i.e., collections of billions of objects, spread across a tightly coupled cluster of servers. Xenon automatically offloads computation to run optimally on various computational elements (multi core CPUs, GPUs and FPGAs). Radon is its latest product and is built on top of Helium and Xenon. Radon is highly optimized for ultra-low latency inserts, lookup and iterate operations, non-volatile memory (NVM) storage fabrics such as NVMe Flash and SCM, and serves as a data-centric compute offload. Unlike Helium and other single node KVS object stores, Radon offers an extensive set of enterprise features including replication, elasticity, consistency, and support for transactions. Each of these products has a relevance to a variety of large use cases in the burgeoning Big Data market in Japan.
