Marie Williams Aspires to Take the Bench for Civic District Court Division E

August 2018 – Being elected a judge gives you an opportunity to serve the people but in a different way. You represent the public and want to give a fair judgment on cases presented before you. In a country where about 19 percent of people think the word “intimidating” portrays the experience in most of the courts, it requires judges to have an impeccable approach in the delivery of services. The decision process is very important when dealing with cases in the courtroom. Unless judges uphold their integrity and understand that they represent the lives of people, it only brings chaos, lengthy trials and hearing, and continuances. Marie Williams is an aspiring Judge who sees things differently, and as she prepares for the Civic District Court Division E elections, she is determined to impartially handle cases when on the bench.

To make sound, unprejudiced decisions, judges taking the bench should ensure independence and objectivity.

What Creates Public Confidence in Judges

People need to see judges different and not people who are there to make their lives miserable.  The way judges process information can impact on fairness in ruling when handling a case. If judges focus on making good decisions and in a timely manner, it can go a long way in improving the court system and ensuring evenhandedness in rulings.

The earlier a resolution or justice is arrived at, the better for the courts, defendants, and plaintiffs. Marie knows how it feels to be a client and to represent someone, and wants to remain firm and be fair while on the bench as a judge.
