Changing Tides: Rubicon Project’s New German Leadership Focuses on Header Bidding

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rubicon Project (NYSE: RUBI) the Global Exchange for Advertising, today announced its new leadership for Germany and Northern Europe. The new team will introduce a fresh direction for the business, which will defend its position as the German market leader and focus on the move to header bidding as its primary solution.

The experienced ad tech specialist Carol Starr is leading Rubicon Project’s business in the region as Managing Director Northern Europe. Sylwia Iwanejko-Sajewska and Anne-Cathrin Voltmer are supporting her as Buyer Lead Northern Europe and Seller Lead Northern Europe, respectively.

Carol will draw on her many years of experience in the industry, from which she has gained a deep understanding of the buy side from previous roles, such as at DSP Pulsepoint in the US. She has been part of Rubicon Project since 2012 and during her time has successfully built the strategic publisher portfolio for Northern Europe. Her technical know-how and clear vision for the future of the industry make her the perfect fit as MD Northern Europe, leading Rubicon Project in Germany and surrounding countries.

Sylwia Iwanejko-Sajewska brings ten years of experience in sales and business development in the media industry to the role of Buyer Lead Northern Europe. Similarly to Carol, she will draw on experience in buy-side positions. Anne-Cathrin Voltmer is rounding off the leadership on the sell-side. Anne-Cathrin has been working for Rubicon Project for the past 8 years and was able to shape the business throughout its IPO in 2014.

Carol Starr comments on the new leadership team: “We are stepping up with the specific goal of defending Rubicon Project’s position as market leader in Germany over the next few years. As part of this, we will focus on our new strategy and drive the move towards header bidding, which will sustain Rubicon Project’s successful future in Northern Europe.”

The company is changing more than just its leadership team: As German market leader, Rubicon Project has been driving the move from waterfalling to header bidding. The numbers show its success: Header bidding ad spend across all devices has grown 4.5x in Q2 2018 year-on-year. In the same quarter, ad requests on Rubicon Project’s proprietary platform have grown 4.3x year-on-year. At the same time, the company is expanding its solutions to include new formats, such as video, OTT or audio.
