ELISA STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 1 OCTOBER 2018 AT 1:53 PM
The Finnish auction for the 3.5 GHz spectrum ended on 1 October 2018. Elisa won 130 MHz of spectrum according its target. The fee for the license is EUR 23.6 million and it will be paid in 5 annual installments. The license is valid from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2033.
Elisas current 4G network coverage is over 99.5 per cent. 5G services will offer multiple data speeds, lower latency and various IoT functionalities. Elisa is a forerunner in developing 5G services, and has already built 5G ready mobile networks in the cites of Helsinki, Turku, Tampere and Jyväskylä.
3.5 GHz 5G network construction will begin in 2019. The license fee has no impact on Elisa's profit distribution capabilities.
