25 Years of Giving Video Contest Winners Announced

Total of $275,000 Awarded to Nonprofits Across Southeast


MEMPHIS, Tenn., Oct. 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The First Horizon Foundation, which operates as First Tennessee Foundation and Capital Bank Foundation, is proud to announce the nonprofit winners of its 25 Years of Giving Video Contest, commemorating its 25 years of strengthening communities.

A total of $275,000 will be awarded to 35 organizations across Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia who will receive grant awards ranging from $2,500 to $25,000 for their organization’s compelling stories.

“For the past 25 years, our Foundation has worked to strengthen and uplift our communities by partnering with nonprofits,” said Charles Burkett, Chairman of the First Horizon Foundation, “We’re blown away by all the impactful stories we received in our 25 Years of Giving Video Contest. We had planned for 25 awards, however the stories were so compelling we decided to recognize 10 additional organizations with $2,500 Honorable Mention awards.”

On June 25, the First Horizon Foundation announced the 25 Years of Giving Video Contest to celebrate its 25th anniversary of supporting the nonprofit organizations in the communities we serve. To celebrate this milestone, and introduce our Foundation as the Capital Bank Foundation in our Mid-Atlantic communities, nonprofit organizations were asked to submit a 60-second video sharing how we have partnered or how we could partner with their organization to support our communities.

More than 500 submissions were received and with the help of public voting, finalists were determined and a panel of judges selected our winners based on the following criteria:

  • Storytelling and messaging
  • Creativity and originality
  • Motivation and inspiration
  • Overall community impact

Today also marks the opening of the 2019 grant cycle. Eligible nonprofits are encouraged to submit their funding requests for consideration by Dec.1.
