Widen Named “Best Place to Work” for 4th Consecutive Year

Madison Magazine’s annual ranking names Widen one of the city’s top ten large employers

MADISON, Wis., Oct. 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Widen, a provider of digital asset management (DAM) software, announced that Madison Magazine has named the company one of the “Best Places to Work” for the fourth consecutive year. The magazine’s annual survey recognized 35 Madison-area companies and placed Widen among the top ten large organizations (101+ employees) in the city.

According to Madison Magazine, the Best Places to Work survey was conducted by Quantum Workplace of Omaha, Nebraska. It evaluated six areas of “employee engagement”: communications and resources, individual needs, manager effectiveness, personal engagement, team dynamics, and trust in leadership.

Founded in 1948 to support Madison’s newspaper industry, Widen has evolved through the revolution in visual communication. From black-and-white to color to digital, Widen has supported storytellers wherever innovation takes them. Today, Widen’s content technologies serve more than 600 of the world’s most influential brands.

Widen has cultivated an organizational democracy committed to eudaimonia, the ancient Greek word for “human flourishing.” The culture is committed to the idea that helping people achieve their fullest potential is the ultimate reason to come to work every day.

Widen has acted on these principles by:

  • Earning its annual Freedom-Centered Workplace™ certification with WorldBlu since 2015.
  • Hosting ExO Works seminars to generate disruptive innovation projects.
  • Employing adults with developmental disabilities since 2015.
  • Enrolling new employees in Empathy Training with Community Support Network.
  • Holding monthly Town Hall Meetings where any question for the CEO is fair game.
  • Providing an onsite exercise room and fitness classes.
  • Offering a comfortable, private space for nursing mothers.
  • Maintaining a cubicle-free environment with casual dress and flexible schedules.
  • Sponsoring local charitable events such as Funk Out Cancer.

“Special thanks to the Wideneers for making this happen,” said CEO Matthew Gonnering. “We're an empowered bunch on a path to becoming the most admired organization in the world. Stay tuned, we’ve only just begun.”
