Nexamp Celebrating Completion of Newfield Community Solar Project

Hosting ribbon cutting ceremony with Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce Oct. 29

NEWFIELD, N.Y., Oct. 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nexamp, Inc., a leading provider of solar energy solutions, along with the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, Oct. 29 to celebrate the completion of Nexamp’s first community solar project in New York. The event will be held on Millard Hill Road near the intersection of Puhalka Road in Newfield at 1 p.m. and will be followed by a tour of the solar farm.

Nexamp CEO Zaid Ashai will be joined by local officials to commemorate the completion of the 7.5 megawatt solar array, a big step toward achieving the state’s goal of 50 percent renewable energy by 2030. Members of the media interested in attending the event should email nexamp@matternow.com to secure their spot. Members of the public are also welcome to attend.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate the completion of our first community solar array in New York, which will deliver meaningful savings to ratepayers,” Ashai said. “We’re on a mission to put the benefits of solar power within reach of far more individuals across the state, and this project is the first of many Nexamp will invest in in the coming months.”

Using their fully integrated business model, Nexamp is dedicated to the community for the long term as they not only developed the solar project but will continue to own and operate the facility throughout its lifetime. “We look forward to being a part of the Tompkins County community for years to come,” said Ashai.

The Millard Hill community solar project features more than 23,000 solar panels generating over 9 million kilowatt hours (kWh) per year. More than 800 NYSEG customers in Tompkins County and surrounding areas have already enrolled to save up to 10 percent on their portion of the project for as long as they remain enrolled in Nexamp’s unique Solarize My Bill™ program. Subscribers can save over $2 million in electricity costs throughout the project’s lifetime.

"Nexamp has shown a meaningful commitment to the Tompkins County community since before their construction started – so it is exciting to see such a community-minded company launch a beneficial product for both consumers and the environment in Tompkins County. The Tompkins Chamber is very happy to welcome Nexamp here," said Dominick Recckio, Director of Communications & Strategic Partnerships at the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce.

Supervisor Jeffrey Hart stated he was excited to see the Town of Newfield becoming more socially responsible and utilizing renewable energy sources for the Town of Newfield and its surrounding area, Councilpersons Michael Allinger, Joanne James, Christine Laughlin and Casey Powers all agreed.

With no signup costs, no credit checks, and no annual contracts, Nexamp’s community solar subscription model simplifies the enrollment process and greatly expands access to the benefits of solar to ratepayers across the Empire State.
