CCCS Begins Search for Next TSJC President

Committee seeks a passionate and innovative leader dedicated to student success, the community college mission, and the southern CO region


Denver, CO, Oct. 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) and Colorado Community College System (CCCS) have announced a nationwide search for the next Trinidad State Junior College (TSJC) president is underway.

Recruitment for the new TSJC president will begin immediately with the best consideration given to candidates that apply before November 28, 2018. The search committee, comprised of college and community representatives, will screen applications and recommend finalists to the System President for final selection by February 2019.

The current TSJC president, Dr. Carmen Simone, has diligently served the Trinidad and Alamosa communities and its students since 2013.

“We are grateful for Dr. Simone’s leadership throughout her tenure at TSJC and hope to continue building upon her accomplishments in promoting student success,” said Joe Garcia, president of CCCS.

Dr. Simone concludes her role at TSJC on January 1, 2019, and will move on to serve as an executive director at the University of South Dakota.

Established in 1925, Trinidad State Junior College is the oldest community college in Colorado, providing comprehensive educational services to over 1,660 students across eight counties in Southern Colorado. As a Hispanic-Serving Institution, TSJC offers an inclusive campus environment, high quality academic programs, in-demand career training, and 11 athletic programs.
