Guardian Circle’s Mark Jeffrey Featured in Alex Winter’s New Documentary TRUST MACHINE: THE STORY OF BLOCKCHAIN

Jeffrey’s Work To Reinvent 911 Emergency Response Illustrates The Global Impact of Blockchain Innovation

MARINA DEL REY, CA, Oct. 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

Guardian Circle, the first global, decentralized emergency response system, announced today its founder and CEO Mark Jeffrey is prominently featured in Alex Winter’s new feature-length documentary, TRUST MACHINE: THE STORY OF BLOCKCHAIN. The film, narrated by actress Rosario Dawson, seeks to educate mainstream audiences on all aspects of support and opposition to blockchain technology, as well as its impact and potential to help solve critical economic issues like income inequality, the refugee crisis and world hunger.

TRUST MACHINE: THE STORY OF BLOCKCHAIN is the first ever production by blockchain entertainment studio SingularDTV, which made the film together with Alex Winter’s Trouper Productions and Futurism Studios. It premieres in Los Angeles November 16 at Laemmle’s Monica Film Center where Winter, SingularDTV’s co-founder Kim Jackson, Futurism president Geoff Clark, and protagonists such as Mark Jeffrey and other influential voices in the film will be doing a live Q&A with the audience after the November 16, 7:30pm screening. Jeffrey and his fellow protagonists Spiros Michalakis (Caltech), Tor Ekeland (Lauri Love’s US counsel), plus producer Clark are doing Q+As after the November 17 and 18th 3:00pm screenings. TRUST MACHINE: THE STORY OF BLOCKCHAIN is screened five times daily at the Monica Film Center through Friday, November 23.

“There are huge changes happening in human culture right now, particularly as it relates to blockchain technology, cryptocurrency and decentralization,” said Alex Winter, writer, producer, and director of TRUST MACHINE: THE STORY OF BLOCKCHAIN. “As a storyteller, this phenomenon fascinates me, which is why I wanted to make this documentary about decentralization and inclusion, rather than profit. This film provides a global lens through which to understand the implications of blockchain technology ethically, politically and socially.”

Jeffrey launched Guardian Circle in 2016 to support the six billion people worldwide and in developing countries who have no emergency services at all. The platform gives users in an emergency situation immediate access to a designated circle of trusted friends, family and neighbors located closest to them via GPS, significantly reducing emergency response times and greatly improving one’s chances for survival. Guardians who respond to requests for help are then rewarded in Guardium tokens, which can be redeemed for more services or sold for fiat currency. Guardian Circle is the only company with a cloud emergency grid that incorporates a token incentive model, addressing the problem of immediate, trusted emergency aid. The app is currently used by tens-of-thousands and has established partnerships with Anu and Naveen Jain Women’s Safety XPRIZE and Akon's AKOIN to distribute Guardian Circle in Africa.

“Trust Machine addresses many of the concerns preventing mass adoption of blockchain while showcasing meaningful projects striving to improve the world around us,” said Mark Jeffrey, CEO and co-founder of Guardian Circle. “The film’s truth and commitment to humanity mirror our own values at Guardian Circle and we believe it will open viewers eyes on what is possible as decentralization increases.”
