Eclipse Foundation Publishes MicroProfile eBook

15 page executive guide sets context for enterprises evaluating MicroProfile and enterprise Java microservices for digital transformation

OTTAWA, Nov. 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Eclipse Foundation, the platform for open collaboration and innovation, today published an ebook focused on the Eclipse MicroProfile project, and how organizations can accelerate cloud-native application development with enterprise Java microservices.  Download your copy here

For more than two decades, Java prevailed as the programming language of choice among enterprise developers -- but the Java EE platform failed to keep pace with the renaissance in microservices application patterns. So in 2016, an industry collaboration launched MicroProfile as a framework to make it easier for developers to use Java EE technologies and APIs for building microservices. And last September, Oracle, IBM, Red Hat, and others announced that Java EE would move to the Eclipse Foundation, where it would be renamed Jakarta EE, with a new focus on cloud-native Java.

“Eclipse MicroProfile and Jakarta EE are great examples of how the Eclipse community is leading innovation in Java,” said Mike Milinkovich, executive director at the Eclipse Foundation. “We developed this eBook to share the key concepts that technology and business leaders need to know about leveraging microservices to enable cloud-native enterprise solutions in Java.”

Specifically, the eBook (download here) teaches about:

  • Where do enterprise Java microservices fit in your digital transformation agenda
  • What’s the business case for Eclipse MicroProfile in your implementation
  • The list of commercial MicroProfile implementations from leading vendors such as Fujitsu, IBM, Oracle, Payara, Red Hat, and Tomitribe
  • How can you get involved in driving the evolution of MicroProfile
