Widen Wins WorldBlu Top Practice Award for Purpose + Vision

Global community of Freedom-Centered Workplaces™ recognize Widen for its commitment to operating with Purpose + Vision and helping its employees do the same

MADISON, Wis., Nov. 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Widen, a provider of digital asset management (DAM) software, has won a WorldBlu Top Practice Award for Purpose + Vision, one of WorldBlu’s 10 Principles of Organizational Democracy. Widen was voted the top practitioner of Vision + Purpose by the global community of Freedom-Centered Workplaces™, to which Widen has belonged for four years. The award recognizes Widen’s commitment to operating with purpose and helping its employees do the same.

WorldBlu is an academy that teaches individuals how to live, lead and work in freedom. WorldBlu certifies companies as Freedom-Centered Workplaces upon completing an extremely rigorous assessment process. As of 2018, Freedom-Centered Workplaces represent over 1 million employees. Widen recertified alongside Zappos, Groupon, Meetup, The WD-40 Company, DreamHost, New Belgium Brewing Company, Glassdoor and other highly respected companies.

Widen’s purpose is to unlock human potential through the power of story. In January 2017, WorldBlu helped Widen build on this vision with “Discover Your Purpose,” a program in which employees do just that. To date, more than 40 percent of Widen’s team has participated.

Discover Your Purpose entails eight demanding weeks of assignments, coaching sessions and community activities. In the course, employees develop their own purpose and vision statements then subject them to critique from fellow participants around the world. The goal is for employees to clarify how they create meaning and pursue their passions.

Participants have integrated their Discover Your Purpose coursework into their roles at Widen. A few have launched new careers and businesses as a result of the program.

“Marketing technology is a complex, chaotic space,” said Matthew Gonnering, CEO of Widen. “Our company vision has helped us put our challenges into a context that make us eager to show up and work hard. Now, we’re helping our employees find that spark in their professional and personal lives. We want Wideneers to feel like the heroes of their stories, and WorldBlu is helping us unlock that beautiful potential. When you step into the arena of life with a purpose, you feel unstoppable.”

“It’s been very fulfilling working with Widen employees to discover their purpose and vision for their life,” said Traci Fenton, CEO at WorldBlu. “Knowing your purpose is energizing and motivating for employees and helps support Widen’s world-class, freedom-centered culture. They are highly deserving of this award from our global community.”
