Horizon Media Ranked #22 on Fortune’s “100 Best Workplaces for Women” List

Agency’s Third Consecutive Year on List Recognizes its Dedicated Focus on Creating a Positive, Rewarding, Work Environment for Female Employees

NEW YORK, Nov. 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- With generous benefits, female-focused programs, and an emphasis on work-life integration, Horizon Media has been named to Fortune’s 100 Best Workplaces for Women list (ranked #22). This honor marks the agency’s third consecutive appearance on this prestigious list.

Women make up 62% of Horizon’s total employee population, with 58% percent of the agency’s senior leadership being women. Given those numbers, Horizon Media is particularly committed to providing an inclusive and forward-thinking work environment that understands the needs of busy female professionals.

In a move to cultivate the agency’s female leaders, five of the agency’s senior female leaders created an initiative to empower and inspire women within the agency. Their initiative, LIMITLESS, helps female employees reveal, explore, hone and expand their own leadership potential by learning and developing core skills and encouraging deep introspection. This shared experience fosters a supportive community resulting in new and meaningful connections, while strengthening leadership potential and enhancing their awareness of what they’re capable of achieving.

“Many women often think they ‘can’t,’ ‘don’t’ or ‘shouldn’t. The result is a feeling that, over time, turns into a belief that who we are and how we are isn’t good enough – isn’t strong enough, isn’t smart enough,’” said Katy Ferguson, a Co-Founder of LIMITLESS and EVP, Managing Partner, Entertainment at Horizon Media. “Limit means can’t. Limit means don’t. We wanted to change that line of thinking by launching LIMITLESS,” continued Serena Duff, Co-Founder of LIMITLESS and EVP, General Manager, Western Region at Horizon Media.

“By proactively uniting as a team of female executives and marrying our experience with the needs of the women in our organization—in terms of how to be even stronger and more effective leaders—we’ve created a richly rewarding environment for women and a conversation that continues to gain momentum as an agent of change within the organization,” said Sheri Roder, Co-Founder of LIMITLESS and EVP, Chief of WHY at Horizon Media.

“At Horizon, we want our people to feel comfortable being themselves at work. It’s ok to be vulnerable at work and open up about your challenges or share personal stories of hardship and raw sentiments of courage,” said Eileen Benwitt, a Co-Founder of LIMITLESS and EVP, Chief Talent Officer at Horizon Media. “We discovered that our female employees found it extremely valuable to connect with one another more personally, so we facilitate small group conversations on important topics to encourage women to connect, support, mentor and learn from each other,” continued Eva Kantrowitz, Co-Founder of LIMITLESS and EVP, Chief Strategy Officer at Horizon Media.

Upon learning that many women find it difficult to transition back to work after maternity leave, Horizon proactively implemented its Spring! Program. The program—created by Horizon employee, Louba Lababedi—facilitates a smooth transition back to work for new parents with helpful tips, a support network, and a newly expanded paid parental leave benefits policy allowing new parents to receive additional paid time off to better transition back into the workplace.

Horizon additionally recognized the challenges of balancing a hectic life with making smart, healthy decisions and launched an on-site health clinic, Horizon Health, earlier this year to make personal wellness easier, more convenient and more affordable for all employees. Horizon Health is part of a broader suite of health and wellness offerings that include: Horizon’s on-site gym, yoga, and wellness facility providing acupuncture, cupping, breathing, guided meditation, stress management and personal fitness; and “The Retreat,” equipped with hanging hammocks for meditation, relaxation and quiet reflection.

Horizon has consistently been named to all the prestigious Best Places to Work lists including Crain’s Best Places to Work in New York City for five years running, Los Angeles Business Journal’s Best Places to Work in Los Angeles for four consecutive years, Forbes Top Mid-Size Employers, AdAge’s Best Places to Work, and several of Fortune’s prestigious lists including: Best Workplaces for Women, Best Workplaces for Diversity, Best Workplaces for Millennials, Best Workplaces in New York and Best Workplaces in Advertising & Marketing.

Fortune publishes its Best Workplaces for Women list in partnership with Great Place to Work®, the global authority on high-trust, high-performance workplace cultures. Horizon Media earned this credential based on extensive ratings provided by its employees in anonymous surveys, through proprietary assessment tools, advisory services, and certification programs.

The agency has ambitious plans to continue to expand and enhance its LIMITLESS program and female-focused employee offerings in 2019.
