Construction contracts in Estonia (electric power cables of Suur Väin and Väike Väin straits)


AS Merko Infra, part of AS Merko Ehitus group, and AS Connecto Eesti entered into contracts with Elering AS for the construction of new electric power cables between the mainland of Estonia and Muhu island, and between Muhu island and Saaremaa.

In Suur Väin strait, between the mainland of Estonia and Muhu island, a new 110 kV electric power cable will be built, and two old 35 kV sea cables will be dismantled. Leading partner in the contract is AS Merko Infra with 51:49 share. The contract value is approximately EUR 9 million, plus value added tax.

In Väike Väin strait, between Muhu island and Saaremaa, a new 110 kV electric power cable will be built. Leading partner in the contract is AS Connecto Eesti with 51:49 share. The contract value is approximately EUR 5.4 million, plus value added tax.

The deadline for both contracts is December 2020.


AS Merko Infra´s main activities include building external networks of water, sewerage and gas pipelines, installing sewerage pump rooms and constructing and renovating storm water systems. Additionally, the company is engaged in designing, setting up and building medium- and high-voltage substations and electrical lines.
