Marriott Stanton South Beach Helps Empower Artists with Disabilities

Resort partners with Creativity Explored to unveil a charitable art exhibition

MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Nov. 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Marriott Stanton South Beach announces a proud partnership with Creativity Explored, a San Francisco non-profit organization dedicated to supporting people with developmental disabilities in their quest to become working artists. The partnership sees the resort and non-profit group creating a not-for-profit art exhibition in anticipation of the annual Art Basel show in Miami Beach.

The property has chosen to collaborate with the charitable art organization to support and bring awareness to the contributions of female artists with developmental disabilities in the creative arts in alignment with Marriott’s Serve360 initiative. The exhibit, “Six Women: Female Voices of Creativity Explored,” will be available for public viewing at the hotel from November 30th through December 9th, 2018.

Founded in San Francisco by Florence Ludins-Katz and Elias Katz in 1983, Creativity Explored was created with the goal to provide adults with developmental disabilities an opportunity to create visual art. Tapping into the Art Basel crowd to build awareness of their cause, Stanton will feature a curated collection of artwork by all female artists including Christina Marie Fong, Camille Holvoet, Selene Perez, Evelyn Reyes, Kate Thompson, and Marilyn Wong. The exhibition will kick off with a private reception on November 30th from 6-8 p.m. and will run through the duration of the Art Basel Miami Beach show, concluding on December 9th. Resort guests and Art Basel attendees will have the opportunity to view the exhibition throughout the property and purchase the featured artwork, ranging in price from $300 to $700, with all proceeds going directly to the artists and Creativity Explored.

"Creativity Explored is honored to partner with Marriott Stanton South Beach to connect the vibrant arts community of South Beach, Miami to artists in our program,” said Linda Johnson, Executive Director of Creativity Explored. “We're proud to bring a slice of San Francisco culture to Miami during Art Basel with a groundbreaking exhibition showcasing the accomplished artwork of diverse women with developmental disabilities working in our studios. The collection is a vibrant example of the important contributions of our artists to the wider arts community that is sure to delight the hotel's art-savvy visitors."

This collaboration is just one of the many ways Marriott Stanton South Beach has contributed to Marriott’s Serve360 initiative. With empowerment being one of the biggest goals of the program, this partnership was created to support the overall concept and mission of Creativity Explored, while putting the focus on female artists specifically through a female-driven exhibition.

“Our goal with this collaboration is to show our support for these accomplished artists and their dynamic and thought-provoking work,” said Mike Manzari, General Manager at Marriott Stanton South Beach. “We are ecstatic to not just give back to this organization, but to promote their important contribution to the contemporary art within our community.”
