MEXICO CITY, Nov. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Grupo Salinas, a group of dynamic, fast-growing and technologically advanced companies, deeply committed to the modernization of the countries where they operate, announced today that President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador and entrepreneur Ricardo Salinas signed an accord entitled "Youth Building the Future" to support the integration of adolescents and young adults in society after unveiling a plaque to commemorate the 25th anniversary of TV Azteca.

The event also included participation by: TV Azteca CEO Benjamín Salinas Sada; incoming labor minister, Luisa María Alcalde; Ninfa Salinas Sada, President of the Advisory Councils of Grupo Salinas; incoming education minister, Esteban Moctezuma Barragán; business leaders that conform the advisory councils of Grupo Salinas, and youth from the  Kybernus leadership initiative from throughout Mexico.

"The project presented by the new government to give employment and education opportunities to these millions of youth who are unemployed today is very important. We are convinced that a country with educated, productive and healthy youth that respect the rule of law will have a prosperous future, with peace and freedom," said Ricardo Salinas.

Mr. Salinas stressed the importance of taking advantage of the demographic advantage that exists in the country, "half of the people are 27 years old (or under) and we have a social debt to include youth with a vision toward the future," he added.

President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador said: "This youth program is very important because it has to do with justice, humanism, fraternity, but also with solving the serious problem of insecurity and violence. It means guaranteeing the right to work, to education and to never turn our backs on them."

He acknowledged Ricardo Salinas as being the first business leader to participate in the program to support youth.

Luisa María Alcalde, the future Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, applauded Grupo Salinas for committing to receive youth from throughout the country in training programs, "it is very encouraging because it helps us to spread the energy and commitment so that more companies join and participate as mentors."

Ninfa Salinas Sada added that there should not be a country without close collaboration between government and the private sector, aiming to work toward the common goal of Mexican prosperity.

The objective of the "Youth Building the Future" program as regards to Grupo Salinas is to benefit at least 100,000 youth over a six-year period, starting on December 1, 2018, through the following activities:

  1. Include at least 12,000 young people as trainees in Grupo Salinas’ companies.
  2. Place at-risk youth into one of 300 orchestras and choirs with at least 80,000 participants, so that through discipline and commitment they acquire self-control and leadership skills, as well as teamwork skills, conflict resolution without violence and the rejection of risky behavior.
  3. Implement a program for the learning of life skills, leadership and a culture of peace that benefits at least 8,000 participants of "Youth Building the Future".
  4. Disseminate and promote the "Youth Building the Future" program among the members of the advisory boards of Grupo Salinas and the social leaders that are part of "Red Social Azteca" to promote the inclusion of at least 5,000 young people as trainees in their companies and civil organizations.
  5. In the implementation of the forementioned programs, both parts agree that operating rules, follow-up agendas and specific funding sources will be established for each pogram.
