WheelTug and Viva Aerobus Sign Slot Reservation

WheelTug Signs Number 8 in '18

GIBRALTAR, Dec. 03, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- WheelTug plc, the innovative e-taxi company, and Viva Aerobus, the expanding Mexican low-cost carrier, have agreed to reserve production slots for the Viva Aerobus fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft.

The agreement, the eighth of the year for WheelTug, is for 65 aircraft, driving the total number of reserved WheelTug® systems past 1,200 – at more than two dozen airlines worldwide.

The WheelTug system uses high-torque motors installed in the nose gear wheels to bring aircraft full mobility and enhanced autonomy on the ground. Pilots can conduct pushback and taxi operations using WheelTug instead of tugs or the aircraft's jet engines. WheelTug systems will benefit Viva Aerobus by improving the efficiency and reliability of its ground operations, reducing costs and increasing fleet utilization.

WheelTug CEO Isaiah Cox said "It's great to have Viva Aerobus on board the WheelTug program, and we look forward to growing along with our newest customer."

"The WheelTug system will help us reach more people and places as we increase the size of our young fleet, which is one of the newest fleets in America, as well as the number of destinations we serve. Besides, it will contribute to strengthen our operating efficiency, which is a pillar of our business model characterized by low prices," mentioned Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
