Dona Young Elected to NACD Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, Dec. 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the authority on boardroom practices representing more than 20,000 corporate board members, today announced that Dona D. Young has been elected to the NACD board of directors, effective January 1, 2019.

Dona Young retired as the chair, president, and CEO of The Phoenix Companies, an insurance and asset-management company, where she was employed for nearly 30 years. Young serves on the supervisory board at Aegon NV where she chairs the risk committee, the lead director of Foot Locker, and a member of the board of trustees for Save the Children USA, Save the Children International, and the Save the Children Association. Young was a 2012 Harvard University Advanced Leadership Fellow.

Young is a faculty member of the NACD Board Advisory Services, was named to the NACD Directorship 100 for 2015, and has been an NACD Board Leadership Fellow since 2013. She has served as a member of two NACD Blue Ribbon Commissions: the Commission on culture as a corporate asset and the Commission on the board and long-term value creation. Young recently completed the NACD Cyber-Risk Oversight Program and earned a CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight, issued by the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.

“Dona Young’s deep experience with board succession planning, board composition, and executive leadership will be invaluable to the NACD board,” said Dr. Karen Horn, chair of NACD’s board of directors and director of Simon Property Group Inc. “She is a welcome addition to NACD’s board at a time when the demands on NACD members continue to grow and evolve.”

“Dona Young’s contributions to NACD include not only sharing her expertise as a faculty member, but as a leader who models continuous learning, having been an NACD Fellow and one of the first to obtain a CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight,” said Peter Gleason, president and CEO of NACD. “We are honored to bring to bear her experience as we work to deliver best-in-class tools and services to NACD’s 20,000-plus members.”
