St1 NORDIC COMPANY RELEASE, JANUARY 2nd, 2019 AT 10:30AM EET
On the 1st of January 2019, Kristine Vergli Grant-Carlsen was appointed as the new CEO of the energy company St1 Norge AS, a subsidiary of St1 Nordic Oy. The previous CEO Mika Wiljanen, continues as the CEO of St1 Oy, a Finnish subsidiary of St1 Nordic Oy.
Kristine Vergli Grant-Carlsen continues also in her current role as the CFO of St1 Norge AS. Kristine worked in Shell Norway for 11 years up until the downstream division of AS Norske Shell was bought by St1 in 2015. She has held a number of different financial and operational positions during her time in AS Norske Shell and in St1 Norge AS.
The change of the CEO has proceeded as previously planned. During the three years’ ownership, St1 Norge has developed into a functionally strong energy company. Norwegian St1 consists of a logistics and terminal operation, a large retail business at all the Shell stations in Norway, sale of commercial fuels, as well as marine fuels. St1 Norge recently acquired Statoil Fuel & Retail Marine AS, strengthening its presence in the marine market.

Renewable energy research and production are at the very core of St1 Nordic Group’s corporate strategy. St1’s performance and revenues of the fossil fuel market enable it to invest more and more on the renewable energy sources with the most potential, namely advanced fuels from waste and residues, heat from the depths of the earth, and clean electricity from wind. In October St1 announced its pilot project of carbon sequestration from atmosphere through afforestation in Morocco.
