NEW YORK, Jan. 14, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Veteran journalist and editor Ginger Conlon, U.S. editor, The Drum,  has been selected as the 2019-2020 president of the Direct Marketing Club of New York (DMCNY), effective January 1, the DMCNY Board of Directors has announced. In addition, Conlon has donated the editorial platform she founded – MKTGinsight – to DMCNY’s stewardship to use as an ongoing repository for thought leadership in the data-driven marketing field.

As president, Conlon succeeds Paulette Oliva, executive vice president, database marketing/audience targeting, and founding partner of Merit Direct, who will remain on the DMCNY Board of Directors as immediate past president. Oliva led the professional networking and education organization as president for two years (2017-2018).

“DMCNY excels in bringing forward-thinking marketing and career development, information, education, and trends to the greater New York City–area data-driven marketing community,” Conlon said. “Its annual mix of programming, networking, and career development events – and its direct support of marketing education scholarships – reflects my enthusiasm as a change catalyst and customer advocate in our field. DMCNY participants are actively engaged in such pursuits.”

In 2018, Conlon was named U.S. editor of the UK-based The Drum, and in her career to date has served as contributing writer, reporter, and editor at several marketing-focused publications, among them 1to1, DMN, MarTech Advisor, Target Marketing, CRM, and Sales & Marketing Management. She is also a recipient of a 2015 DMCNY Silver Apples honor, marking at least 25 years of achievement and contributions to the marketing field, among other recognitions in customer experience, loyalty, and customer relationship management (CRM). Conlon graduated from Penn State University and resides in New York City.

Conlon will be introduced as DMCNY President at the organization’s Annual Outlook luncheon this Thursday (January 17, 11:30 am EST) at the Princeton Club (15 West 43rd Street, Midtown Manhattan) where Bruce Biegel, senior managing director, The Winterberry Group, will review 2018 media trends and spending, as well as forecast 2019 and identify macro trends in data, digital and direct marketing.
