How This Toronto Tech Start Up is Helping the City’s Homeless Brave the Cold

TORONTO, Jan. 17, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Toronto’s newest savings platform, The BOGO App, announced a major social initiative aimed at giving winter jackets to those in need during the brutal winter months ahead.

Dixon Hall Neighbourhood Services reports that there are over 8,700 homeless people in Toronto, and with shelters at capacity during the winter months, many are left to brave the cold on their own with nothing but the clothes on their back.

Until February 14th, The BOGO App is running its first ‘Redeem for a Cause’ campaign that will see one winter jacket donated for every BOGO FREE voucher that is redeemed on the platform.

Toronto consumers can use The BOGO App to save money when dining out – but while the ‘Redeem for a Cause’ campaign is running, the larger benefit will be helping to keep a person in need, warm.

Working with homeless advocate Jody Steinhauer of The Bargains Group – a discount wholesaler to the Not for Profit industry – there’s an amazing opportunity for the team behind BOGO to give back to the community in a major way. “We are excited to be working with The BOGO App, and thrilled that their team is estimating between 100-150 winter jackets being donated on Valentine’s Day 2019 to select shelters throughout the city,” Jody said.

Raza Malik, the app’s founder added, “When you plan for your next lunch or dinner outing in Toronto – use The BOGO App to get great Buy One Get One deals to save money and to help provide a warm jacket to somebody in need!”
