Gulfstream Property and Casualty Insurance Company Selects Roost® Home Telematics Solutions

Smart Sensor Deployment to Help Drive Policyholder Engagement

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 12, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Roost, a leader in Home Telematics for property insurance carriers, today announced it has partnered with Florida’s Gulfstream Property and Casualty Insurance Company (“Gulfstream”). In an agreement reached to increase policyholder engagement as well as reduce claims costs, Gulfstream will pilot a program to offer either a free Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector or a Roost Smart Battery to select new and existing policyholders.

Gulfstream insures homes and families across the South’s Gulf Coast, including Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Texas. For the benefit of its policyholders, the company is adopting the industry’s most innovative home telematics platform. As a result of deploying Roost smart sensors, policyholders will be better able to mitigate the cost and hassle of fire, smoke and water leak related claims. Gulfstream will also be empowered to strengthen their engagement with policyholders through Roost’s co-branded Gulfstream mobile app. The white label app has also been enhanced with emergency weather alerts and home service pro access.

The award-winning Roost Smart 9V Battery is a simple retrofit solution that transforms existing smoke alarms into smart alarms. If the alarm sounds and no one is home, a smartphone notification is delivered. The Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector is designed to sense water leaks as well as humidity and freezing temperature situations. Easily locate in places around the home most prone to water leaks such as sinks, hot water heaters, toilets and various appliances. It then delivers smartphone alerts via the Gulfstream mobile app to help minimize water damage and loss. These Wi-Fi enabled smart sensors don’t require a hub and set up in less than five minutes.

“While fire related loss is a perennial problem across the country, you need only turn on the news to see why hurricane, storm and just simple water related damage has become a common issue in the South,” said Nan Brunson, President & CEO of Gulfstream. “We are always on the search for the best tools and services to protect our policyholders. In partnership with Roost, together we will deliver smart sensors that give our customers the best technology to mitigate their risk of water and fire related loss. As a real bonus, the program allows us to also deepen our ongoing relationship with policyholders. That’s the kind of win-win that doesn’t come around very often.”

“We are happy to be working with Gulfstream to deliver their policyholders a technology platform that can mitigate water and fire related loss,” said Roel Peeters, co-founder and CEO of Roost. “Whether in a time of crisis or not, we aim to help Gulfstream deliver their clients peace of mind every day.”

Roost’s Home Telematics solutions are changing the way insurers engage with their policyholders, mitigate fire & water claims and drive new business growth.
