Mattermost Builds out Executive Leadership Team, Adds Board of Advisors and Opens San Francisco Office

Following $20 million Series A closing, the popular open source messaging platform is investing in community and global growth


PALO ALTO, Calif., March 27, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mattermost, the fastest growing messaging platform for engineering teams at large organizations, today announced the appointment of Alexis Schmidt as Vice President of Sales, Matt Stodolnic as Vice President of Marketing and Aneal Vallurupalli as Vice President of Finance. The company also announced the formation of a board of advisors and opened a new San Francisco office to better serve customers in the Bay Area. The San Francisco office joins existing Berlin, London, Toronto, and Washington, D.C. centers.

The three new executives, Stodolnic, Schmidt and Vallurupalli, bring decades of enterprise software experience and success in building fast-growing open source software businesses at companies such as CoreOS, Docker, Hortonworks, Mapbox, Pivotal, SpringSource and Union Square Advisors. Schmidt most recently led sales at CoreOS and previously held senior sales roles at Docker, Hortonworks and SpringSource. Stodolnic most recently led marketing and partnerships at Pantheon and previously held senior marketing roles at Pivotal, VMware, SpringSource and Salesforce.com. Vallurupalli joins Mattermost from Mapbox where he led strategic finance and previously was an investment banker with Union Square Advisors.

  • Stuart West - current Automattic (Wordpress) CFO, former board member at Wikipedia;
  • Zack Urlocker - former Duo Security COO, Zendesk COO, MySQL SVP Marketing;
  • Alan Black - former Zendesk CFO, current board member at Looker;
  • Lisa McCaffrey - former HashiCorp VP People.
